Submission Guidelines
Updated: May-25-2007
Please read these guidelines carefully. Sites submitted into the directory, which do not follow these guidelines will either be deleted or modified.
Frequent submitters should check these guidelines often because they will be revised periodically.
NOTE: We are very particular about the sites which we accept into our directory. A major portion of Regular Listings are either never accepted or deleted because they don't follow our guidelines. Upon browsing the directory, you may find sites listed as Regular Listings which don't follow these guidelines. They will very soon be deleted.
In a brief, Regular Listings submitted, must be an original business atleast 6 months old which we can verify from sources such as Alexa & TheWayBackMachine. Care should be taken when entering the title and description. If you are submitting a Regular Listing, you must read and understand these guidelines fully, otherwise there is a very high possiblity that your site won't make it into our directory.
As a safe option, you may select the Premium or Premium Featured listing types, which among other benefits, include editorial reviews of your submission and are risk free.
What we mean by an Editorial Review is that we will correct or enhance your title or description so that it follows the guidelines mentioned here. Each site submitted is visually checked to see if it meets the criteria we have defined on this page.
What is acceptable?
In general, you may submit any legit site which is not under construction and does not redirect to another url, contains original content and can be filed under any of our categories.
PLEASE READ
If submitting a Regular Listing (free), your site needs to either be or represent, a business which conducts trade either online or through brick & mortar facilities. It should also be fully functional for the past 6 months which can be verified from sources such as Alexa and TheWaybackMachine.
We will not accept websites into our directory which:
- Are under construction, redirect to other urls either completely or partially, or are made up just of affiliate links.
- Have excessive advertising or are there just to show ads.
- Offer online betting or gambling.
- Sell alcohol or tobacco products online.
- Engage in online or offline sales of illegal firearms, knives or weaponry.
- Are pornographic in nature, contain mature content or promote illegal sexual activity.
- Deal or assist in selling illegal drugs and narcotics such as heroin, cocaine and crack.
- Exhibit or endorse software piracy such as making available, software cracks, keygens, serial numbers and activation numbers.

Please also note:
- We will not list blogs as regular listings unless they sell a product or service.
- MLM sites will not be accepted as regular listings.
- Regular listings submitted must have unique descriptions.
- We will have the final say in whether a site may be listed in our directory.
Where should I submit my site?
When submitting your site to Linkspub, you should first browse and familiarize yourself with our categories before deciding where to list your site. Although, you may find more then one category in which to submit, choose the most suitable category based on your main products or services.
If you cannot find an appropriate category to submit your site, we have included the 'miscellaneous' category within each Top Level category. Alternatively you may suggest a category by contacting us or you may wish to check back later as we will be adding new categories soon.
VERY IMPORTANT: BROWSE OUR CATEGORIES AND TRY TO FIND THE BEST CATEGORY WHERE YOUR SITE BELONGS BASED ON YOUR MAIN PRODUCTS OR SERVICES. REGULAR LISTINGS, IF YOU SUGGEST YOUR SITE TO AN IRRELAVANT CATEGORY, WE WILL NOT LIST YOUR SITE.
What should I use for a Title?
The title or anchor is the first thing viewers will notice, browsing the directory. It is also, what they will click to get from our site to yours.
To understand what we consider ideal titles, visit industry leading directories like Dmoz, Yahoo Directory and Joeant. Browse through their listings and see what their titles are composed of.
If you are submitting a top level domain, i.e., not a subdomain or inner page of a site, just the name of your website will work fine for your title. You do not have to enter what your site is, which category it is in or anything that is obvious by context, save that for the description, or the users to find out on their own when visiting your site.
We would like to give you the title of your choice but cannot accept title keyword stuffing. Regular listings, please pay close attention to the following points, as if your title doesn't follow our guidelines, we will not edit it or change it, but instead delete your listing.
The do's and do not's of a well written title:
- Try to limit your title to the name of your site and nothing else when submitting a top level domain. For example if your site is 'goingbusiness.com' then the following titles will be acceptable, 'Goingbusiness', 'GoingBusiness' or 'Going Business'. Anything beyond that would require a visual inspection of your title to see if it can be accepted, and if you are submitting as a Regular listing which does not include an editorial review, we may end up deleting your listing. The extension i.e., .com, .org, .net should also be avoided because it is unnecessary, however if you feel that you must have it, we may consider it.
- Do not use all caps for any title word. The only exception is if your url contains an acronym less then four letters e.g., NATO or BBC.
- Conjunctions, pronouns and prepositions should be kept in lower case while nouns and proper nouns may be capitalized.
Lets take an example. If your url was wizardofwidgets.com, the title 'Wizard of Widgets' would be correct because we have left the preposition 'of' in lower case.
- Do not stuff keywords, marketing hype or prices into titles. They will never be accepted.
- Do not end your title with any punctuation such as the period '.' or exclamation point '!'.
How do I prepare a well written description?
Your description complements the title and conveys to the viewer, what he will find when visiting your site. Writing a creative description is the most time consuming part of preparing your submission. The premium and premium featured listings include editorial reviews which does not require that much effort on the submitter's part, because our editors will enhance them if needed.
As a general rule, you should write a unique description for your site and not copy an existing one submitted elsewhere. Try preparing a description with some substance and content to it which is true, concise and to the point. Do not try to market but describe to the viewer what your site is about and what people can expect to find when visiting it.
Prepare a well written description in neutral unbiased language. It should not sound like a promotional announcement or advertisement to the viewer or the editors which inspect directory listings.
VERY IMPORTANT: DO NOT MARKET YOUR PRODUCTS OR SERVICES IN THE DESCRIPTION. USE UNBIASED NEUTRAL LANGUAGE AND DESCRIBE TO OUR VIEWERS WHAT YOUR SITE IS ABOUT. REGULAR LISTINGS WHICH DON'T COMPLY WITH OUR GUIDELINES WILL BE DELETED FROM OUR DIRECTORY.
The do's and dont's of a well written description.
- Spend some time preparing your description. Think of what your site has to offer its viewers.
- Write a well written description in english which is brief, concise & to the point. A single liner consisting of 8 - 10 words is just fine. No long summaries or essays please.
- Use neutral language. Do not include sales pitches or marketing jargon. Do not include prices or special offers. They will not be accepted.
- You must use correct spelling, grammar and punctuation.
- Do not use interjections or exclamation points at the end of a description.
- Do not stuff keywords, either space seperated or comma seperated, in your description, we will not accept it.
- Do not use all caps for any given word in your description except for known acronyms.
- Do not repeat your title or parts of your title, in your description, it is redundant.
